Captique is one of a number of dermal fillers made from hyaluronic acid gel currently on the market. Hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring compound present in our skin, is crucial for supple skin structure, and when injected plumps the skin by attracting water molecules and forming a soft, solid pad, which is slowly absorbed back into the body over the course of several months.

Because hyaluronic acid is made naturally by the human body (although Captique's active ingredient is plant-derived), allergic reactions are extremely uncommon.
