Tummy tuck (abdominoplasty)

In the tummy tuck, a surgeon makes an incision from hip to hip, lifts the skin and fat from the abdominal wall, tightens the abdominal muscle wall with sutures and removes the extra fat and skin.

Aside from the tummy tuck, what other options are there for trimming the abdomen that won't leave a scar?

The options for treatment of the abdominal area depend on what problems are present. If there is just some fatty tissue prominence, liposuction may be a solution. If there is excess skin and stretch marks are present, a surgical procedure such as a "mini"-or full tummy tuck may be required. With the surgery, there will of course be a scar ,but it is usually confined to the bikini area with the mini and takes the form of a scar around the navel with the full procedure.
