You need to rest it if it's an acute hip labral tear. Stretch the surrounding muscles if it's a chronic condition. And refrain from carrying heavy loads.

I usually do sports stretching along with structural integration. Try to take pills such as, hydronic acid,caprylic acid, calcium, vitamin d, or a high grade mineral supplement. I hear their is a form of hydrogen peroxide that people can take in a low dose that is natural to consume but do not know if it works. How long ago was you tear? What complications do you have? 30 minutes heat and ice switching between each for 15 minutes each with elevation of the leg.Lay on your side with you leg up to the roof and stretch lateral hip.

If you have a partial tear we can help with the symptoms. We can decrease the inflammation and relievie the pain, though this will not change the status of the actual diagnosis. If you have a total tear you will need surgery. If that is the case, I would recommend acupuncture after your procedure to help with recovery.

Have you considered Acupuncture? Acupuncture & Chinese Herbal Medicine can help! Eastern Medicine has treated billions of patients for thousands of years. Pharmacological drugs and steroids are not the only option. Side effects, dependency and not treating the ROOT cause and only the symptoms is not the way to cure these problems. Surgery is usually a last option. Don't be surprised if your Doctor brings up your diet and will probably recommend some diet changes. Make sure you go to a Licensed Acupuncturist (not certified) that has graduated from at least a Masters Degree program. Every state is different and some require little to no exams or training.

Consult with your doctor. Acupuncture can help with the pain associated with the tear, however, if its a tear you may need surgery.

A left hip labral tear is a serious injury. I assume you got that from golfing as well as caddieing? Step one: Have you seen a physical therapist?

You should see a well qualified physical therapist. It seems like you may need rehab as opposed to personal training at that point.

In the short term, a Labral tear can be very painful and further movement of the joint can exacerbate the problem. If at all possible, I'd suggest a short vacation off your feet to start. Regardless, once you've got the pain and inflammation under control, you should strengthen the entire area. Try doing targeted exercises on specific muscles, especially ones you don't normally use while walking, to improve your joint stability. Your doctor might also be able to recommend vitamin supplements to help. If you can, see a physical therapist and have them check your walking and carrying patterns for irregularities.

Any kind of tear must be seen by a doctor. Massage is only useful in keeping the surrounding muscles relaxed so as to keep the tear from getting worse. However, even the most well trained therapist should refer to your doctor first so as not to make the tear worse.

With a hip or shoulder labral tear, depending on severity, you have 2 choices that I know of: Adapt your activity level to function with the damage you already have, and not make it worse; or surgical repair. Talk to a reputable orthopedic surgeon that specializes in hip surgery. I am a massage therapist -- this is out of my scope of practice, if you indeed have a labral tear, and I can't help with that, unless it is actually some other condition of the hip rotator muscles.
