Before You Go
Questions to ask your doctor:
- Will SmoothShapes reduce my cellulite?
- How many SmoothShapes treatments will I need?
- How long can I expect the results to last?
- Are there any dietary restrictions in between treatments?
On the day of treatment: On the day of your appointment, shave the areas you're planning to treat, removing any excess hair. (This is probably most applicable for treatment of the upper thighs.) Take a shower, exfoliating your skin with a wash cloth to improve your circulation and relax your muscles.
Wear loose fitted clothing that promotes blood flow in the treated area.
What To Expect
The SmoothShapes hand piece is guided over targeted areas of the skin while lying comfortably on a table top. The rollers add pressure to your skin while the lasers deliver heat. Your skin may feel warm, flushed, or tingly after treatment.
Who should do it: SmoothShapes is offered in medical spas around the country, but it may be prudent to book your appointment with a board certified plastic surgeon or dermatologist who understands the physiology of your skin.
Duration: SmoothShapes treatments are performed bi-weekly for four to six weeks, totaling eight to 12 sessions. Each appointment takes between 20 minutes and one hour to complete.
How Painful Is It?
SmoothShapes is not a painful procedure. In fact, some patients say that between the comfortable table and the warm pressurized rollers, SmoothShapes can feel a lot like a deep tissue massage.
Options for anesthesia: SmoothShapes does not require anesthesia.
