Will napping during the day give me better performance at the gym or sports?

Franklin Antoian (Delray Beach, FL) on Dec 13, 2011
The optimal length of time for a nap is about 20 minutes. Any more and you may feel tired after because your body may enter deep sleep mode, thinking you are preparing for a night of rest. When you get up after a long nap, your body thinks it's the middle of the night. Some people perform better with naps and some do not. Try and see what works best for you!

How do you feel after a nap? Do you feel refreshed or do you feel tired? If you are getting a good night's rest then a nap is not necessary. If you often feel tired after a nap then I would suggest you check in with your doctor.

You best bet is to be sure to get a good night of sleep. You won't be able to perform at your best without proper sleep. Fortunately, you tend to sleep better and more soundly when you incorporate regular exercise into your lifestyle.
