Dermal fillers

Dermal fillers are one of the most widely used treatments for wrinkles.

Can you use dermal fillers in the undereye area?

Elie Levine (New York, NY) on Dec 7, 2011
Dermal fillers can be used under the eyes to correct a number of cosmetic issues, such as under-eye bags, dark circles, and sunken eyes. By using a filler, such as Restylane or Juvederm, to fill the depressed curve that forms between the cheek and under-eye bag or sunken area, we can contour the area to create a smooth and youthful appearance. The filler lifts the cheek area, masking the appearance of bags or any hollowness in the area. Furthermore, by contouring the skin around the eye area, dark circles are less apparent. Laser resurfacing is another great option for people who are looking for improvement in the undereye area.

Dermal fillers can provide a significant improvement to the under eye area. However, the technique is specialized and uses specialized needles that have just been introduced. The filler is placed deep to the structures of the lower lid. There is virtually no discomfort, no bruising and very limited swelling. Contrast this to the standard puncture technique that is painful, typically bruises and swells, and more often than not causes irregularities in the lower lid contour. Using these new techniques, fillers can also be placed under the cheek to create more volume and a subtle improvement in overall appearance that is truly amazing!

Yes. With the correct dermal filler and an experienced injector, undereye filler looks very natural and provides a huge improvement for the face.

Fillers can be cautiously used in this area but the risk of complications, including bruising and visible filler lumps, are high. You should only go to an experienced injector for treatment in this location.

Absolutely. The proper placement of a filler, usually a hyaluronic acid such as Restylane or Juvederm, can fill the tear trough and give the eyes a more rested and younger look. The effects can last up to one year after treatment.

Dermal fillers can definitely be used in the lower eyelid area. But this is a very sensitive area and must be done very meticulously. If done properly it can produce very satisfactory results.

Absolutely! Dermal fillers can produce amazing results filling in the under eye hollows.

Yes. Fillers in the under-eye area can be used to mask or blunt the transition zone between puffy lower lids and the adjacent cheek. Restylane is my preferred filler for this application and it must be placed in a deep location.

Dermal fillers are commonly used in the undereye area to diminish the appearance of dark circles and “hollowness” of the undereye area. Hyaluronic acid fillers, such as Restylane and Juvederm are commonly used in this area. The effects of the filler are seen immediately and the result is a smoother and brighter appearance of the undereye area. Dermal fillers last six to nine months in the undereye area.
