Can you have a co2 laser treatment if you are a smoker?
Eric Schweiger (New York, NY) on Dec 20, 2011
Patients who smoke can have CO2 laser resurfacing, though patients who smoke may experience longer healing time than non-smokers. Smoking can impede healing of the skin, so we recommend that all patients avoid smoking when possible.
Elie Levine (New York, NY) on Dec 20, 2011
Yes, but we will perform a less aggressive treatment than we would perform on a non-smoker, and the treated area will take longer to heal. If possible, we suggest smoking cessation four weeks prior to any resurfacing procedure.

The CO2 laser can be used for upper lip lines, but you need to stop smoking at least 3 weeks before the treatment.
