Asclera is the newest version of an injectable for spider veins. It appears to be more effective than standard sclerotherapy (hypertonic saline) for larger spider veins. It is also more expensive.

Asclera is officially FDA-approved for sclerotherapy and hypertonic saline is not. Hypertonic saline is probably historically the most common sclerosant used.
