I have a pulsing sound (like my heart beating) in my right ear can an acupuncturist help this?

Ta-Li Chang (La Habra, CA) on Aug 30, 2012
Acupuncture can help, but you should get checked out by an ear specialist first. Make sure there's nothing wrong with the structures and fluid pressure inside the ear first. You should also have your blood pressure checked. If everything is normal, treatments that could help include acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, Tui-na, chiropractic care and massage.

How long has this been going on for? I believe acupuncture could help with this however if it's been going on for a long time it will take some time for the treatments to "stick"

Yes, acupuncture and herbal medicine can help you. We must also discuss your diet and make sure you are avoiding certain foods that can affect this sound. Sessions will vary depending on how long you have had the symptoms.

It sounds like a low pitch tinnitus you are experiencing. Acupuncture Definately helps. Find yourself an experienced acupuncturist.

Yes Acupuncture and Asian medicine can help clear up this pulsation. It is most likely do to a Liver and Kidney energetic imbalance. The Kidney supports all the organs and shows up in the ears as well. The pulsation of the heart beat may have to do with the heart and liver energetics too. Take time to notice what makes this sound more apparent, is it when you are stressed? tired?, hungry? during the night?, during the day, cold or hot? All of these questions are part of our TCM differential diagnosis which need to be answered prior to really identifying the condition.

It sounds like you have a tinnitus. Unfortunately, acupuncture doesn't seem to be the best treatment for it.

First you should check your blood pressure regularly, how old are you? usually when do get this feeling? is constant or intermittent? you should check circulation around your ear , any pimple or tumor in that area and according to your condition I will be able to answer your question.

I have not treeated anything like this before, will need to know more about your symptoms
Kathleen Rosenblatt (Los Angeles, CA) on Sep 6, 2012
This is still probably a milder form of tinnitus. Tinnitus is bearable but is the tip of a future iceberg so it's important to treat. What it means is the energy is rising in the body setting off the sound nerves in the ear. As we age, ALL of us have energy rising like the heat rising in a room. I constantly pull it down with acupuncture on leg points to calm hot headaches, heartburn, etc. on the upper half, and warm up cold feet, varicose veins, backaches, and sexual down cycles below. If not, then strokes or other explosions happen in the upper reaches... I have had good results and it represents more than just calming sounds down in the ear. It represents a longer healthier LIFE!
