Massage Therapist "LMT"
At Seacoast Orthopedic Massage, Scott Corliss prides himself on offering an evidence-based practice with scientifically founded results. "This is not a spa," Scott ensures prospective clients. "The hands-on work I provide has been proven to be effective in treating chronic pain problems, postural dysfunctions and aiding in the rehabilitation protocol."
Scott's fitness and health intrigue can be traced back to his childhood, when he began studying martial arts in his native Portsmouth, N.H. While exploring the "culture and value" of martial arts, he became interested in passing along much of what he learned to students and colleagues—and so began his career as a health care provider.
Scott's experience spans athletes of all kinds, including runners and cyclists as well as CrossFit buffs. "I incorporate active movement in my bodywork as well as stretching to gain the maximum results that are long lasting," he explains. "I go through a complete assessment and evaluation process before I begin with any hands-on treatment to ensure my work will have the greatest impact for my patients."
Among the resonating lessons Scott leaves clients with is the importance of self-care after and in between sessions. "I feel it is vital that patients take an active role in their health and well-being, not only seeking regular bodywork but also through self-care," he says. "I teach them proper strength and stretching exercises to enhance the massage work I perform in order to make the benefits of the bodywork much more long lasting."
