"Find the line when you think you can't do anymore," begins Spencer Hughes—a personal trainer on New York City's Upper East Side. "Cross it. Now, you can do more."
Spencer believes in the power of self-motivation when it comes to fitness, health and happiness. Everyone can set goals and achieve them. The real winners are those who go above and beyond their original objectives and exceed their expectations.
Every client Ive ever trained has pushed through, gotten results, come back and did it again, he explains. And while yes, it takes time, and sure, it takes hard work, eventually, it does happen. Spencer is concerned with more than merely helping clients get in shape; he's really committed to training everyone to be fitter, stronger, satisfied and ultimately more confident.
Just remember, says Spencer, that everyone starts somewhere. Even if you cant do a squat right now, one day you will. Spencer has worked with clients of all skill levels and knows that not everyone is built to walk into a gym on day one and perform a flawless clean-and-press or deadlift. But dont let that keep you back, he insists. The first step is showing up.
