Everyone loves to get pampered. At Purple Lounge Spa, owner Sean LeeChong indulges New Yorkers in transformational massages that improve the body and relax the mind.
A graduate of the prestigious Swedish Institute of Massage Therapy, this native Brooklyn resident is dedicated to the study of various forms of massage and bodywork. That's because, to Sean, massage therapy is not just a profession—it's a craft.
Since earning his initial qualifications, Sean has continued to read every piece of massage literature he can get his hands on while attending educational programs to enhance his skills.
Sean is certified in Reiki levels 1 and 2 as well as in "mother massage," which he learned as an apprentice for renowned massage therapist and author of Massage During Pregnancy, Elaine Stillerman. In the summer of 2008, he studied directly under reflexology expert Laura Norman at her training center in Manhattan, perfecting his ability to perform this hand- and foot-focused art.
Whether servicing his clients at his private office or in their homes, Sean relies on a modality known as physiotherapy. This stylized form of massage uses creams, oils and gels to enhance deep tissue work. This highly therapeutic treatment is one that keeps clients returning time and again.
