Licensed acupuncturist Tom Elman believes in treating and healing the whole person, not just their symptoms, and his goal as a practitioner is to help clients become truly well, so they can live long, happy, healthy lives.
“I love my job. I feel invigorated by seeing people feel better on a regular basis,” Tom says. “I never dread Mondays.”
Neither do Tom’s patients, if they’re headed to Jade Tree Wellness Center. At Jade Tree, clients experience the benefits of Traditional Chinese Medicine techniques. From the minute they enter the warm, softly-lit clinic, clients know they are, quite literally, in good hands. When asked how he keeps his patients motivated, Tom responds that the treatments speak for themselves. “Relief is a wonderful motivator.”
Tom offers a wide range of therapy options in a nearly endless variety of combinations. “We make extensive use of Chinese herbal medicine, including standard formulas in pill form, syrups and liniments,” Tom says. “In addition, we also carry concentrated powdered herbs, which allow us to create custom formulas specifically tailored to the individual patient. Being dually licensed in acupuncture and massage also increases the effectiveness of many treatments.”
The most important thing Tom says he teaches his clients is balance and moderation in all things, “including moderation." He says it’s okay to splurge now and then, and that “balance” doesn’t mean always walking a “boring line down the center.” “Finding balance is easier than many people think. Start by changing one thing,” Tom suggests. “Make one difference in your life. Everyone can change one thing in their lives.”
