Information And Treatment
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disease. In cases of RA, the body’s immune system attacks the tissues that surround the joints, causing pain, swelling, stiffness and weakness. RA is sometimes accompanied by fever and fatigue.
Some health & wellness techniques may be good supplements to conventional medical treatment for RA, including dietary changes aimed at reducing inflammation (such as the addition of fish oil and turmeric to the diet) and stress-reducing therapies, including massage and yoga. One study featured by the American Massage Therapy Association found that a regular regimen of Swedish massage reduced flare-ups of RA and alleviated pain.
