And science has shown that burn-out is a real, cross-industry epidemic, defined by the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mayoclinic.org\/healthy-lifestyle\/adult-health\/in-depth\/burnout\/art-20046642\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mayo Clinic<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as \u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a special type of work-related <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zeel.com\/blog\/massage\/make-the-most-out-of-stress-awareness-month-with-massage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stress<\/a>\u2014a state of physical or emotional exhaustion that also involves a sense of reduced accomplishment and loss of personal identity.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Furthermore, in today\u2019s corporate culture, leaders are equally assessed on the kind of work environment they create, as they are the results they and their departments&#8217; yield. \u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Research over the years has shown that abusive managers add insurmountable amounts of stress on employees, greatly decreasing their ability to focus and be productive<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,\u201d writes Marcel Schwantes for<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inc.com\/marcel-schwantes\/study-60-percent-of-employees-are-more-likely-to-s.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Inc.<\/em><b><\/b><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But for leaders who got where they are by going that extra mile, \u201cdoing their time,\u201d and putting in all those countless hours under toxic bosses of their own, they may not know how to implement anything different.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So how do you create a positive and productive work environment where employees perform to the best of their abilities and stay loyal to your company for years to come? Let us count the ways:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><b> Mindfulness Meditation\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Eastern practice of mindfulness meditation may have become mainstream in recent years, but with good reason: Researchers from Johns Hopkins University have found that mindful meditation <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/jamanetwork.com\/journals\/jamainternalmedicine\/fullarticle\/1809754\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">can help ease psychological stress<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which is a key factor in employee engagement and burnout. And <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ga\u00eblle Desbordes<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a neuroscientist and instructor in radiology at Massachusetts General Hospital-Harvard-MIT<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, was able to prove that mindfulness meditation can result in <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.frontiersin.org\/articles\/10.3389\/fnhum.2012.00292\/full\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">enduring changes in mental function<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, specifically in the part of the brain that contributes to emotions, survival instincts, and memory.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But how do you encourage <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zeel.com\/blog\/lifestyle\/mobile-meditation-studio\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mindfulness meditation<\/a>, which is traditionally a private practice? The \u201ctime has come when&#8230;organizations adopt the philosophy of \u2018Healthy mind and healthy body,\u2019 which will help in [the] cultivation of [the] right attitude and transformation of present turbulent societies into a &#8216;stress-free society,&#8217; or they will end up paying [the] price for it,\u201d writes Revati Deshpande in her study published in the\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">International Journal of Environmental Sciences<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
