Before You Go
Questions to ask your doctor:
- Can a Nefertiti Lift sharpen my jawline and/or reduce my neck bands?
Pre-procedure prep for Nefertiti Lift: Avoid blood-thinning medications (including aspirin) that increase the likelihood of bruising after Botox injections. Speak with a physician who can give you more precise guidelines to consider before treatment.
On the day of treatment: Arrive at your appointment with a clean face. Makeup can obstruct facial contours.
What To Expect
Two to three units of Botox are injected under each mandible (located beneath the jawline) and along the upper portion of the platysmal band. Anticipate a total of 15 to 20 units of Botox injections on each side of the neck and jaw. Botox injection sites may bleed slightly (like pricking your thumb).
Who should do it: Seek out a trained and qualified dermatologist or plastic surgeon who not only understands the way Botox affects the underlying muscles, but who is familiar with the platysma muscle in particular.
Duration: You'll spend between 10 and 20 minutes while the Botox is injected into the targeted muscle. If you opt to use numbing cream ahead of time, you may need to show up to your appointment a few minutes earlier.
How Painful Is It?
This depends on your individual pain threshold. Botox injections are typically no more painful than a flu shot, but remember, the Nefertiti Lift focuses on the muscles along the neck - a particuarly sensitve area.
Options for anesthesia: The use of a numbing agent is totally up to you, the patient. You may choose to use a topical cream to reduce discomfort, but it is not required.
