Do I have to sleep with Invasalign?
Ramin Tabib (New York, NY) on Oct 25, 2011
Sleeping with Invisalign in your mouth is absolutely important. Just like having regular braces that do not come off, tooth movement is only possible when the braces are active. Taking off Invisalign for too long a period of time will not have the desired effect of moving teeth in the correct position. Not wearing Invisalign for more than 1 hour a day will diminish the possibility of a successful outcome.

Sleeping with Invisalign in your mouth is a must. Just as with regular braces that do not come off, tooth correction with Invisalign is only possible when the braces are active. Not wearing Invisalign for more than an hour a day will diminish the possibility of a successful outcome.

Yes. Invisalign trays or "aligners" as they are called, must be worn as much as possible. We recommend 22 hours a day. They more they are worn, the better the outcome of the treatment.

In order to have a great result, the answer is yes. While it may seem strange in the beginning most patients find it very easy to do. In fact I have personal experiences with Invisalign and I forgot I was wearing them.

Yes, it is actually recommended that you wear your Invisalign aligners about 22 hours out of the day and especially at night. Invisalign, or any orthodontic treatment, works by applying constant pressure on your teeth to create movement of teeth within the bone. If you do not wear your aligners for an extended period of time, you will not get predictable movements and may actually get relapse of movement.

Invisalign trays only work when they are in your mouth. A minimum of 20 hours a day and an ideal of 22 hours or more are needed to achieve a good result. I hope that helps! Best of luck.

Yes. Aligners must be worn an average of 22 hours per day (all the time) or 300 hours total per two weeks for each set. Think of it this way: Braces, with big ugly brackets and wires are glued on your teeth 24/7. So aligners must be worn near full time. But you have the luxury of eating whatever you want and not showing ugly metal.
