Dermabrasion is an aggressive cosmetic procedure performed by a board certified plastic surgeon or dermatologist in a hospital, outpatient clinic, or medical office setting. Dermabrasion costs are also influenced by the size of the treatment site. Spot treatment of a small blemish, like an acne scar, with dermabrasion may only cost around $100, whereas a more extensive procedure involving the entire face can cost between $1,000 and $4,000. On average, surgeons in the U.S. charged $1,200 for dermabrasion in 2010.
The total cost of dermabrasion includes not only the physician's fee but also the cost of the surgical facility, procedure supplies, possible lab tests, and anesthesia (topical, local, or general). General anesthesia will cost more, but local anesthesia is more common. Dermabrasion in an accredited hospital will also be more expensive.
How to get dermabrasion: From a licensed, certified plastic surgeon or dermatologist.
