I have had my Damon braces on for three days. How long does it normally take to see your teeth start to shift and you see effects?
Michael Apa (New York, NY) on Sep 21, 2011
Everyone is different, but usually within the first month you will see significant movement.
Christopher Baer (Aurora, CO) on Sep 21, 2011
Be patient. Most tooth movement occurs at such a slow rate that you may not see noticeable movement for several weeks. Moving teeth too fast can cause problems.

Changes are subtle. The standard orthodontic movement is .5mm per tooth per month. It may be hard to see at first. Be patient - it will happen.

Shifting of teeth will be hard to notice. It's like watching hair grow. If it hurts after an adjustment, your teeth are moving.

Visible changes to your teeth with any type of braces is very variable. Your teeth should begin to move within a week or two, but you may not see much of a change for several weeks. I hope that helps. Good luck!

That depends. You can sometimes see movement as quickly as a few days and sometimes not for a few weeks. It all depends on the position of your teeth and your course of treatment. You should see some big changes in a few months though.
