Questions to ask your doctor:
- Can blue and red light therapy be combined with other skin resurfacing procedures for better results?
- Will blue light therapy reduce oily skin or enlarged pores?
Pre-procedure prep for blue light therapy / red light therapy: Medication that causes photosensitivity can interfere with light therapy, so stop taking these drugs before starting light treatment.
On the day of treatment: No lotions, makeup, moisturizers, or sunscreen should be applied to your skin on the day you receive blue light therapy.
What To Expect
Use tanning goggles or sunglasses to shield your eyes. Your skin may get drier after treatment.
Who should do it: No license is required.
Duration: The amount of time each treatment takes depends on the device used - time per session ranges from a mere 60 seconds to 20 minutes.
How Painful Is It?
The treatment is painless. On a 1 to 10 scale, blue and red light therapy are a zero!
Options for anesthesia: Anesthesia is unnecessary during blue light therapy.
