Treatment options: Gaps between teeth can be minimized through orthodontic procedures. Braces help to shift the teeth closer together, while veneers, dental bonding, and the placement of a crown or bridge can reduce the width of the gap by altering the size and shape of the teeth.
Surgical treatments: A large gap caused by an unusually thick or tight labial frenum (the gums above your front teeth) can be reduced with a frenectomy. The procedure can take around 15 minutes and is completed under local anesthesia using either a scalpel or laser. Orthodontics may still be needed to shut the gap.
